Bolt, Powell and Gay confirmed for Brussels 100m clash
BRUSSELS, Belgium — Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell will race each other at the Van Damme Memorial in August in a rematch of last year’s world championships, where Bolt set a 100-metre world record.
They will clash in Brussels in the last stop of the 14-meet Diamond League, with the title of the season’s best sprinter possibly on the line.
In Berlin last August, Olympic champion Bolt won the 100m world title with a world record of 9.58 seconds. Gay came in second with 9.71, while Powell, Bolt’s Jamaican compatriot, took bronze in 9.84.
The Van Damme Memorial is set for August 27. It was unclear whether they would face each other earlier in the season.
