Tomorrow’s People on roll in Senior League
BICKERSTETH, St James — Tomorrow’s People won for the third straight time to lead Zone B of the Claro St James Senior League, beating North Gully Ambassadors 3-1 at Bickersteth Community Centre.
It was Tomorrow’s People’s third straight 3-1 win and they lead second-placed Fogo by two points.
Bervin Brissett scored twice in a three-minute period in the second half as the Bickersteth-based club extended the competition’s only perfect start.
Marcel Whyte had given them the lead in the 17th minute, while Brissett added goals in the 77th and 80th to take his tally to four goals.
The Anthony Williams-coached team had beaten Granville City and Abes by the same scoreline in previous games.
Former champions Fogo United moved into second place after a 1-0 win over winless Granville City, with Bryan Robinson scoring in the 26th as the Flanker-based club improved to seven points.
Abes won for the first time this season in two tries, rebounding for their loss to Tomorrow’s People last week to edge Melbourne 1-0.
Donovan Carey, who scored in the losing effort against Tomorrow’s People, scored the winner on Monday in the 20th.
Meanwhile, Barrett Town lead Zone A with seven points from three games after drawing 1-1 against promoted Revelation FC at Wyndham field.
Former National Under-17 striker Rocky Baronett gave Barrett Town the lead after 34 minutes, but Gary McLennon equalised for Revelation in the 48th to stay in second place.
Both Salt Spring clubs scored their first wins, cruising against Mt Salem and Mt Villa to be on three points and tied for third place.
Salt Spring Roses beat Mt Salem 3-1 with goals from Anthony Bowen in the 34th, Davian Clayton in the 40th and Omallie Malcolm in the 58th, while Luke Mair pulled one back for Mt Salem in the 60th.
Salt Spring United, who were relegated from the Western Confederation Super League last season, blanked Mt Villa 3-0.
Kevin Vassell in the 16th, Javion Bailey in the 23rd and the veteran Omar Clarke in the 54th scored for Salt Spring United.
