Building a strong nation through our youth
The National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) is fervently committed to building a better Jamaica. This passion has enabled us to extend ourselves beyond the boundaries of banking and find ways to enrich the lives of our people, especially our youth, one community at a time. We believe that Jamaica will be a better place if we provide our nation’s youth with the right opportunities that will create life-changing experiences.
Over the years, NCB through the NCB Foundation has spent over $60 million in our CXC Fee Sponsorship Programme, which has provided assistance to over 50,000 students sitting the Principles of Accounts (POA) and the Principles of Business (POB) examinations. The programme, which works in partnership with the Ministry of Education, helps to ensure that all students have the opportunity to meet the minimum subject requirement for admission into tertiary level institutions.
The Jamaica Observer shares our vision of investing in our youth and as such this Lecture Series is well-needed and timely, as it affords the students the opportunity to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to perform at their best in the CXC/CSEC Examinations.
At NCB we fully understand that the challenges facing our young people today are many and the distractions are equally numerous. That is why we will continue to empower, engage and build a brighter future for them so that they will shine despite the circumstances; as we wholeheartedly believe in our nation’s children.
Freshhh Proud to be a sponsor
As the Jamaica Observer continues to support the educational growth of our youths, we at Trade Winds Citrus Ltd, through our brand Freshhh Fruit Juices is pleased to know that we can assist in sustaining this endeavour. Freshhh is presently a sponsor of the Jamaica Observer Study Guide and with the aim of the Lecture Series Workshop being to assist our students in achieving their goals, while contributing to their development, there was no hesitation on our part to be partners in this venture.
As our students prepare to take another step up the academic ladder, it is essential to provide them with support. At Freshhh we value our children and seek to enhance their lives in every possible way. The Lecture Series Workshop not only assists them with tutorial lessons, but also with tips to help them prepare mentally for the task which lies ahead. We can never do too much toward the development of our youths; they are our future and investments in education can never fail in enhancing their lives.
There are numerous distractions and so much to report in the Jamaica media today. Freshhh commends the Jamaica Observer for seeing the need to implement this programme which caters to our adolescents who are often over looked. We recognize that the time is nigh for them to become our leaders. Let us not overlook the fact that it is our responsibility to groom them, as their future decisions will dictate our lives.
Freshhh is very hopeful and confident that Jamaica will celebrate the success of our students in the CXC exams that lie ahead.
“If the school sends out children with a desire for knowledge and some idea of how to acquire and use it, it will have done its work.’ Sir Richard Livingstone
