Tricky fixtures for Western Confed leaders
FROME, Westmoreland — Title contenders Reno and Seba United will face potential stumbling blocks this afternoon as the return round of the Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League winds down.
Reno, who sit atop the table with 53 points, will host an improving Catherine Hall at Frome, while Seba, three points back, will host Frome at Tucker.
Both Catherine Hall and Frome are on 32 points and while they cannot win the league and have already secured their places in the competition next week, could throw a wrench in proceedings.
With two rounds to go after today, neither Reno nor Seba can afford a slip-up and must win.
Reno, coming off a 3-0 win last Wednesday, are hoping to repeat their 3-0 first-round result over Catherine Hall, but if the Garfield Anderson-coached St James club show up, will give the Westmoreland outfit a workout. Seba beat Frome 4-1 in the first round.
At the other end, Violet Kickers must win at Petersfield to stay in the competition and avoid joining relegated Prosper.
Violet Kickers lost 3-0 on Wednesday and are in 11th on 12 points and were beaten 2-1 by Petersfield in the first round.
