Phenomenal Goule ends on winning note
SHE first burst onto the scene as a 12-year-old and quickly became known for her prowess in road races before moving to the National Stadium, and in a six-year career, Natoya Goule has piled up an amazing 14 gold medals at the ISSA Boys’ & Girls’ Athletic Championships.
Now in her final year, the Manchester High School student brought the curtain down on her Champs career in style, winning gold in the 1500m in record time, and in her final race, claimed the Class One 800m to a standing ovation.
In six years, Goule was unbeaten in individual events.
“This has been a good Champs for me and I’m happy because I didn’t know I would get so many gold,” she told the Sunday Observer after her final race yesterday.
“I’m happy with how I performed,” she added.
Goule says her goal now is to add to her 10 medals when she competes at next weekend’s Carifta Championships in the Cayman Islands.
Her main goal, however, is to win a medal at the World Junior Championships. She will get her chance at the next event in Moncton, Canada, this July.
