Lee opens outdoor season at Sea Rays Relays
WORLD Youth and World Junior 100m champion Dexter Lee will open his outdoor season in the 100m at the Sea Rays Relays on April 10 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Lee, who ran indoors for the first time this year and had a creditable 6.66 second personal best over 60 metres, will run on a relay team a week later at the Kansas University Relays that includes Omar Brown, Americans Darvis ‘Doc’ Patten and Terrence Tramell, as well as sprint hurdler Richard Phillips.
All five are signed to the Atlanta based On-Track Management agency.
The 19-year-old former Herbert Morrison sprinter who will bid to become the first male to win the 100-200 double at the World Juniors, and the first to retain his 100m crown in Moncton, Canada, attended Boys and Girls Champs at the weekend.
Lee, who won the Class 1 100m last year in what is still his personal best 10.31 seconds adding to his Class 2 and 3 titles, turned professional last year, foregoing at least two years of eligibility at Champs and now trains with newly crowned IAAF World Indoors 60m champion Veronica Campbell Brown under the watchful eye of Anthony Carpenter in Atlanta, Georgia.
