Corruption stalks the land
Dear Editor,
It is troubling to see Jamaica sinking into corruption. We need greater transparency for our land is saturated. We should remember how fortunate we have been as a country, when the mighty USA stood with us, caring for our people.
When a former US Ambassador Sue Cobb spoke at the meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce on May 16, 2003, she said, among other things:
“Bribery. Graft. Kickbacks. Ugly words, ugly deeds.
They make us uncomfortable. But this is the vocabulary of corruption. And while we
may think corruption might be someone else’s problem, it affects us all.”

If we get rid of corruption, crime will recede. Governments need to be open and honest with the people who elect them.
