Free Town cop second win in Clarendon Div I
NEW BOWENS, Clarendon — Free Town recorded win No 2 in the FX Trader/Clarendon Football Association Division One competition when they clipped Emmanuel Strikers 2-1 on Wednesday at Bodles to go three points clear atop Zone Four on six points.
In other first round games on Wednesday, Abassian outscored Westham 3-2 at Kemps Hill High in Zone One to mark their first victory, while in Zone Four, Chatteau Progressive — who were playing two games in three days — failed to join Free Town on top as they were nipped 1-0 by Moores FC at the New Bowens Community Centre.
In their opening game on Monday, Chatteau edged Mineral Heights 1-0 at New Bowens and could have possibly assumed leadership of the zone had they beaten Moores by at least three clear goals.
Also on Monday, Harlem opened their account with a 2-1 win over Gravel Hill at the Gravel Hill playing field to share the lead in Zone Three with Cherry Tree Gardens and Four Paths on three points each.
On Tuesday, Cockpit blanked Mitchell Town 3-0 and are now joint leaders of Zone One, alongside Springfield with six points.
At Trout Hall, Rio United got off the mark in Zone Two with a 3-1 win over Union Stars, while over in Zone Three, Original Paisley made a losing start as they were spanked 3-0 by Tread light 3-0 at Paisley.
