Well done, JDF
Dear Editor,
I am looking at the front page of last Thursday’s Daily Observer and surely feel proud of our men and women in uniform. I am referring to the members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF). Although they were not deployed to deal with a hostile situation, their contribution to the humanitarian relief effort in Haiti cannot be overlooked. Kudos to them.
I’m a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and we have been making our own contribution in Haiti. We have a small contingent of officers on the ground and they have been there for quite some time now. We feared for them during the earthquake and were only relieved when word came that they were OK. So you see, Jamaica’s men and women in uniform, from both sides, are parading the country’s positive image beyond its shores.
My writing though is really to give “thumbs-up” to those JDF guys. No matter what the challenges are, the security forces in this country will continue to give of our best to make the difference.
