Anybody’s title Four teams hunt Claro/KSAFA Major League crown
Four teams go into today’s final round of matches in the Claro/KSAFA Major League with a chance of snatching the title.
However, two of the four will be left disappointed, as only one team can win the title, but two teams will be promoted to next season’s Super League.
In today’s games, Rockfort entertain Molynes at Bull Pen, UWI play away to Brown’s Town at Vauxhall, Central Kingston host Greenwich Town at Winchester Park, Police National play Whitfield at Edward Seaga Complex, Swallowfield take on Liguanea at Stadium East, and Cooreville go up against Olympic Gardens at Cooreville.
All starting at 3:30 pm.
Rockfort, with 42 points lead the points standing ahead of UWI on goal difference, Central Kingston follow with 41 and then Police National with 40.
Victory for Rockfort this afternoon would assure them of the title and a place in next season’s Super League.
But even if Rockfort fail to win and end up on the same number of points as UWI or Central Kingston, they would still hold the advantage as head-to-head results would be the first criterion used to determine who gets the title, then goal difference.
Rockfort defeated Central Kingston 1-0 in the first round and lost the second round tie by the same score, but have scored more goals than their opponents.
Rockfort and UWI know how good a position they are in, and they cannot afford to drop points today with Central Kingston breathing down their backs and hoping for them to slip up.
Police National with 40 points are also still in with a slim chance of taking the title, providing all three teams ahead of them lose and they win their match against Whitfield.
Swallowfield (five points) and Olympic Gardens (14 points) have been relegated to the Syd Bartlett League for next season.
