Scotiabank adopts C Sharp Band
Scotiabank recently demonstrated its corporate support of the C Sharp through the Adopt a Band Programme being co-ordinated by Grafton Music Studios.
The bank recently handed over a cheque valued at $500,000 to assist the up-and-coming all male ensemble with training, development and promotional activities.
Scotiabank first signalled its support of the Adopt a Band Programme through Grafton Music one year ago upon the invitation of Grafton Music to support the local music industry. The bank has been supporting C Sharp through bookings, the provision of exposure opportunities and now with its cash donation.
The five-member band was formed in 2001 while they were all students at the Edna Manley College. C Sharp, now recognised locally and overseas as a performing and backing band, has also produced one album and is working on a second. Among their popular singles are What the Matter With the World, Don’t Come Searching and No More.
Recognising the immense talent that resides in the band, Mikie Bennett of Grafton Studios teamed up with other seasoned and successful musicians including Jimmy Moss Solomon, Steven Golding and Wayne Armond to embrace C Sharp in their Adopt a Band programme, aimed at identifying and enhancing the natural skills that these young band members exhibit through a mentorship programme with more seasoned bands.
“C Sharp Band is made up of a very creative, conscious and motivated set of young men who will excel in the music business. We want to help them to produce promotional material, expose them to further training and band management techniques which will sharpen their skills as performers and help them to remain viable in the business.” explains Bennett.
C Sharp is preparing for performances locally in the Caribbean and Europe.
