Central Kingston hold slim lead in Claro/KSAFA Major League
LEADERS Central Kingston and third-placed UWI will meet in the crucial penultimate-round game in the Claro/KSAFA Major League today.
In other matches, second-placed Rockfort play away to Greenwich Town at Tinson Pen, Liguanea entertain Police National at Jamaica College, Whitfield Town take on Brown’s Town at St Andrew Technical, Molynes host Cooreville Gardens and Olympic play Swallowfield at Cling Cling Oval. All games start at 3:30 pm.
Central Kngston (40 points) lead Rockfort in the standing by a point, and have two more than UWI.
However, after the top two lost last weekend they will be looking to avoid any further slip-ups this afternoon.
A win for Central Kingston and defeat for Rockfort would hand the title to the former with one round to go.
However, anything but a win for Central Kingston this afternoon would throw the title race wide open going in next week’s final round.
A win for UWI, coupled with a winless result for Rockfort would give the Mona school the advantage and the league a new leader going into the final round of games.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Swallowfield (five points) have been relegated to the Syd Bartlett competition.
However, if Olympic Gardens (11 points) can beat Swallowfield and Molynes defeat Cooreville (15 points), Olympic will still have a slim chance to avoid demotion next weekend.
