BMW AmCham Golf Classic on today
NCB Capital Markets, along with American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) and Stewart Motors, have committed to corporate sponsorship of the BMW Amcham Golf Classic 2010, which takes place today at the Caymanas Golf Club at 8:30 am.
Part proceeds of this tournament will be donated to two local charities — Kind Hearts (building homes for families in need) and the Grants Pen Foundation for Sports.
This Golf Classic will see the Shotgun Stableford format being employed. It requires all players to tee off simultaneously from different holes, allowing the tournament to be completed in the time it normally takes to finish 18 holes.
The maximum 92 amateur golfers are expected to compete today for the main prize of a BMW M3 if anyone is capable of scoring a hole-in-one on the 10th hole. However, the winner would lose his/her amateur status for three years.
Other prizes include two airline tickets from Kingston to London via Virgin Atlantic; two airline tickets to any Jetblue destination; weekend get-aways to Ritz Carlton Hotel and Black Berry phones courtesy of LIME.
CEO of NCB Capital Markets Dennis Cohen endorsed the event: “We are delighted to be a part of the BMW Amcham Golf Classic because we believe the event will be an exciting day of golf and camaraderie at the tournament. NCB Capital Markets has been focused on making our company more accessible to our clients and potential clients by deepening our involvement in events that matter to them.”
Cohen, who is also the deputy group managing director of National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd added: “We believe that this event is one which will provide our clients with premium experience and one which matches our own commitment to excellence. We are also pleased that our sponsorship has been a boost to Amcham’s staging of the inaugural tournament.”
