NBA Player Profile – Chris Bosh
Name: Chris Bosh
Team: Toronto Raptors
Position: Power Forward
NBA Statistics: 24.5 (points), 11.4 (rebounds), 2.3 (assists)
Background: While easily being one of the more dominant players in the league today; the towering Raptor began to show his dominance from an early age. ‘CB4’ as he is commonly called was forced into stardom after he led his Lincoln High School basketball team to a 40-0 which unsurprisingly gave his team the number one ranking in the country and the USA Today National Championship.
Drafted into the league as the fourth overall pick by the Raptors (in a draft which included the likes of Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony), Chris Bosh was an instant success at Toronto claiming 11.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.41 blocks as a rookie in addition to setting a franchise record for most rebounds in a season by a rookie at 557. Not long after he was forced to mature at an even greater pace as he replaced the departed Vince Carter as the face of the Toronto Raptors. He duly accepted the challenge, improving in every aspect of his game after Carter’s exit.
Hard work and diligence finally paid off in 2006 as Bosh was selected as a reserve on the Eastern Conference All-Star team being only the third Raptor to achieve such an honour behind Vince and Antonio Davis. He has achieved to earn his place on the All-Star line-up ever since.
His acceptance of his leadership role at the Toronto Raptors is personified in the fact that he is the all-time franchise leader in points, rebounds, blocks and double-doubles.
