W’house humble H’View in U-21 League
WATERHOUSE collared leaders Harbour View and to joint leadership of the JFF Under-21 standings with 54 points after defeating their rivals 3-1 at Drewsland on Friday.
Harbour View, however, have a superior goal difference.
In the late kick-off, Waterhouse rallied from a goal down early in the match with goals from Norman Bailey (16th minute) Darren Mattocks (35th) and De’Andre Brown (85th), while McKauly Tulloch in the third replied for Harbour View.
With both teams striving to gain the upperhand in the third round, the game developed into a high intensity affair, with both ending the match with 10 players.
Harbour View’s second-half substitute Jahmali Spence was the first to go in the 54th — less than two minutes after entering the fray in place of Joel Nicholas.
All told, Harbour View picked up five cards, including four cautions.
Waterhouse, on the other hand, received two cards, with Stephen Williams receiving his marching in time added.
Harbour View went ahead in the first five minutes as Tulloch beat Kelso Cousins at his near post with a header from a right-side corner kick.
They continued to dictate terms, especially in midfield, but they were not as effective in the final third. Even though Waterhouse equalised 13 minutes later from a difficult angle through Bailey, Harbour View continued to look the better team.
It took an exploratory run through the middle from central defender Theo Brown to create the opening for Waterhouse’s second goal.
He sent Mattocks clear to put the home team ahead from a delicate chip which left the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
The entire second half was played with the Harbour View officials complaining about the calls made by referee Carvel Banton.
At one point coach Harold Thomas was asked to leave the Harbour View bench, but was not shown a card. With the game reduced to aimless play, De’ Andre Brown’s exploratory looping shot on the Harbour View goal caught Walters off his line to seal the points for the second round End-of-Round winners.
