Rosemount, Tomorrow’s People score wins in Claro St James D-1
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Rosemount Gardens and Tomorrow’s People scored identical 3-1 wins as the Claro St James Football Association’s Division One and Senior League got underway on Saturday at Jarrett Park.
A hat-trick from Javier Peak highlighted the double-header as he piloted Rosemount Gardens to a deserved win over a slow starting Westgreen in the first game.
Peak scored in the 32nd minute to give Rosemount the lead at half-time then added goals in the 65th and 72nd minutes, while substitute Anthony Walker scored for Westgreen.
Rosemount took the lead when Peak beat two defenders going to his right then shot back in to the left side of the goal.
He made it 2-0 20 minutes into the second half when he powered home from close range.
Walker pulled one back for Westgreen within minutes of taking the field as a substitute, netting in the 69th minute.
Peak completed his triple in the 72nd minute and restored his team’s two-goal margin when he converted a penalty kick.
In the Senior League opener, former champions Tomorrow’s People, with two goals from Balvin Brissett, beat Granville City 3-1 in a Zone B game.
