Over $3m won so far on Digicel Deal or No Deal
TWENTY-seven Jamaicans have so far won just over $3.2 million in the weekly exciting TV game show Digicel Deal or No Deal, data from the producers have shown.
A culmination of years of planning and deliberation as to how to bring one of the top international game shows to Jamaica’s shores while at the same time giving it the look and feel of an authentic Jamaican production, Digicel Deal or No Deal has proven to be a hit with many Jamaicans anxious for an opportunity to cash in on the possibility of taking home a maximum $3 million available for each game.
The $3-million top prize was introduced after nine episodes which, at first, offered a $1-million ceiling.
The highest prize won to date was $475,000 on episode 21, followed by $400,029 won by singer Christopher Martin on the New Year episode. Martin, a former winner of the popular Digicel Rising Stars talent show, donated the money to the Shaggy Foundation.
Mike Hogan of New Comm and executive producer of Digicel Rising Stars, can be credited as being the brainchild behind this vision of the game show becoming reality.
“We took a real hard look at how we could bring such a high quality and exciting programme to Jamaica,” he said. “The fact is, Deal or No Deal is an international brand and we had to ensure that we stepped up to the plate and gave it the respect it deserves, the show creators Endemol would hove it no other way.”
The aim of Digicel Deal or No Deal is to give contestants a chance to win a whopping $3 million while at the same time providing quality entertainment to the viewing audience. The secret to the show’s success lies in the well-balanced combination of both mathematical and psychological elements coming together to produce a game show thriller.
Based on Endomol’s the successful format that has aired in over 100 countries, Digicel Deal or No Deal is aired each Wednesday at 8:00 pm on TVJ.
