Good journalist
Dear Editor,
I write in reference to Michael Burke’s column “An idea whose time has come” on February 18.
It is not everyone who writes in a newspaper that is a journalist. Good journalism takes on a natural form of professionalism in keeping with the format and tenets that are consistent with the accepted norms within the profession. The objectivity, the balance and the factual composition, narrated in a clear and simple style, void of egregiousness and partisan blame-game language characterise the writings of Michael Burke, a good opinion journalist.
He makes an eloquent case for our pilots in a most respectful and coherent argument and I am drawn to his reasoning and analysis. The guts of our people to take risks and maintain employment that could otherwise dissipate in this economic meltdown should be encouraged. Go, JALPA.
