Ardenne seek berth in national baskeball final
ARDENNE could secure their place in the ISSA/KFC National Schools Basketball U-19 final today when they take on Belair High at the National Stadium Courts, starting at 4:00 pm.
In the opening game at 2:00, St George’s College will square-off against Campion College in an U-16 semi-final.
Many-time winners Ardenne lost out to St George’s at the final hurdle of the U-19s last season and are confident of going one better this year.
The Basil Barrett-coached school will have a host of experience to turn to in Dimitri Gage, Stephen Silvera, Sage Kamicka, Jeffrey Duhaney and David Gardener
Opponents Belair won their only title in 2008, but the Manchester school has become a consistent contender under coach Michael Stephenson and will be aiming for a second final berth in this massive clash.
Their hopes of reaching a second national final will rest squarely on the dynamic duo of Earl Mowatt and Paneil Reynolds.
Meanwhile, the U-16 semi-final will be a repeat of the Southern Conference semis won by St George’s by a point.
St George’s will look to Javed Habib, Shavier Francis, Rasheed Andrews and Shaun Graham, while Campion will depend on Jonathan Mitchell, Chad Wilson, Mathieu Vaughn and Ajuan Burton.
The other semi-finals will take place tomorrow with Hydel High verssu Western champions Herbert Morrison in the U19 game at the Mobay Cricket Club and Ardenne versus Knox College at Belair in the U-16 game.
