Gems of Rio Doce
With the weather conditions being unfavourable, the third week of the Bacchanal Friday series got off to a slow start, but had a great finish. At about 11:00 pm, patrons began to fill the venue, glad that the rains had held up.
Pure Country sponsored last Friday’s mas and, while patrons jumped and waved they got a taste of various blends along with the usual drinks service.
With Trinidad carnival behind us, local soca warriors finally got a taste of more 2010 music from DJ Billy and DJ Smoke. They also took us through the years with crowd favourites and dropped in a few local dancehall hits.
Of note is the versatility of various dancehall artistes, including Vegas, Konshens and Serani, who have made soca-dancehall fusions to add to this year’s slew of hits.
St Mary’s Banana Chips offered complimentary packages of flavoured cassava chips and plantain chips to patrons. There were also the usual giveaways from sponsors as the night progressed. Patrons definitely had a great time and it’s evident that the energy is building week by week.
Be there next week for the first band night of the series, featuring Kes the Band, from Trinidad & Tobago.
Also remember to get your costumes now, and tickets at Mas Camp and check the Daily Observer and the Bacchanal Jamaica website at www.bacchanaljamaica.com for updates and more details.
