Western Confed leaders face tricky opponents
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Leaders Reno FC and Seba United will face tricky oppositions as the return round of the Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League continues with a full slate of matches today.
Reno will travel to Sam Sharpe Teachers College where they will take on Granville United, while Seba host Catherine Hall in a St James ‘derby’ in the second game of a double header at Jarrett Park, starting at 6:00 pm.
Both leaders scored close victories in the first round, but will be up against teams seeking revenge and also improvement in the standings.
Granville, who beat Prosper in the Western Confederation last week, are also coming off a win over Bamboo in the JFF Flow all-island knock out and will be seeking to maintain their streak.
Reno are also riding a winning streak and will take the league’s best defensive record into the game and will be happy to repeat their first-round 2-1 win.
Seba United edged Catherine Hall 1-0 in their first-round game and like Reno are still unbeaten, but will face a team coming off a moral-boosting 3-1 win over third-placed Frome last Sunday.
Catherine Hall are in fifth spot on 21 points, the same as Bamboo, but have played a game more.
Bamboo, who have a game in hand against Violet Kickers, will be home against Exidos and will be seeking to take out their frustrations after going down 0-1 to Granville on Thursday.
Bamboo are yet to face Exidos on the field this season after picking up three points from the first-round game in the boardroom.
Frome are expected to rebound from their loss when they host Violet Kickers at Frome Sports Club.
Frome won the first-round game 2-0 in Montego Bay, but Violet Kickers could be without goalkeeper Warren Barrett who is taking part in a FIFA coaching course.
Meanwhile, Petersfield and Mt Pelier will be seeking repeat wins over two-time defending champions Wadadah and Prosper, respectively.
