Village, Granville, Reno notch KO wins
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Omar Allen scored twice to lead Premier League strugglers Village United past Benfica FC of St Ann, 2-0, in their first-round Flow Champions Cup KO game at Elliston Wakeland Centre yesterday.
Allen scored once in both halves, getting the first in the 13th and the second three minutes from full time in the 87th.
Meanwhile, Western Confederation teams Granville United and Reno were also winners over fellow western clubs Bamboo United and Spicy Hill FC, respectively.
At Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College, home team Granville United edged Bamboo of Hanover, 1-0 thanks, to a Garth Johnson first-half goal.
Johnson scored in the 34th with a volley past goalkeeper Keneil Morgan from 12 yards from a ball swung from the left by Michael Thompson.
Reno blanked Trelawny’s Spicy Hill 3-0 at Frome Sports Complex to ease into the second-round draw.
Anthony Campbell gave Reno the lead in the 27th and Craig Foster made it 2-0 10 minutes later, while Trimaine Perry scored in the 61st.
