February 23 premiere for Listen 2 the call
Listen 2 the call, described as “a special musical gift from Jamaica to Haiti with Love”, will now have its premiere on Tuesday, February 23, at 4:53pm. According to producer, Andrea Davis, the date had to be shifted due to weather related delays in New York where an acoustic mix of the song is being produced by Handel Tucker.
This project is the brainchild of Raymond Azan (co-founder of the FOR JAMAICA Inc charity), superstar music producer Handel Tucker and Andrea Davis (founder of the International Reggae Day Festival).
With more than 30 top Jamaican artistes on the first mix, this song is a historic moment in Jamaican musical history.
Net proceeds from song and video sales will go towards Haiti’s rehabilitation and rebuilding.
“We are working to create an heightened sense of expectation for the 4:53 premiere of Listen 2 the Call. In keeping with our objective in memory of the victims and as an inspiration to the survivors of the earthquake to have a global reveal of the song on Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 4:53pm Haiti time, we are not releasing the song, in part or whole, before the appointed time,” Davis said.
However, there is a radio drop which gives a sliver of Tarrus Riley and Barrington Levy, in addition to a Listen to the writer HD in which Azan speaks about the inspiration behind the song, which he wrote in March 2009.
Among the artistes are Toots, Sly and Robbie, Barrington Levy, Nadine Sutherland, Gramps Mprgan, Una Morgan, Mutabaruka, Cherine Anderson, Jenieve Bailey, Alaine and Beenie Man.
