Customer wins Blackberry Bold 9700 in Digicel Facebook ‘DigiHistoryMania’ competition
Digicel Jamaica customer Nickera James, was extremely excited when she left the Digicel head office in New Kingston on Friday, February 12 with her new BlackBerry Bold 9700, that she won on Digicel Jamaica’s Facebook page in its DigiHistoryMania online competition.
“I literally felt like I was going to faint — I was anxious and I was glued to my seat as I sat there waiting for Digicel to ask the question that would give away the Blackberry Bold 9700,” confided an elated James.
According to Digicel’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Jacqueline Burrell-Clarke, “The instantaneous and flexible nature of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter provide us with another avenue through which we can deliver value to our customers, as well as an opportunity to engage our fans and customers in a more informal way, whilst giving them an opportunity to win some exciting prizes such as handsets, credit and tickets to events among other things”.
Nikera shared that when Digicel announced the launch of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 almost two weeks ago, it immediately became her dream phone. “For me this is an early Valentine’s gift from Digicel – I’m so excited, especially since it was time to replace and upgrade from my BlackBerry Pearl”, she closed.
In the meantime, Digicel’s Corporate Affairs Manager noted that she is pleased with the company’s growth on HYPERLINK “www.facebook.com/digiceljamaicafan” www.facebook.com/digiceljamaicafan with over 23,000 fans and a steady increase in the number of new fans on the page on a daily basis since its launch in November 2009. “More and more fans are using Digicel Jamaica’s Facebook page as part of their daily online regime not only for interactions but also as a library for information on our products, services and value promotions. We will continue to find ways to engage our customers in the social media landscape and effectively use the online media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and others as an integral part of our marketing thrust so we can continue to deliver Best Service and Best Value to our customers across Jamaica.
In closing, Jacqueline shares that, “Just a day after the earthquake in Haiti, we also launched the Help Haiti Facebook page HYPERLINK “www.facebook.com/helphaiti” www.facebook.com/helphaiti, to act both as an information source and to help raise needed funds for the people of Haiti. Today we have over 70,000 fans on this page getting live news updates on the situation in Haiti.
