PROVIDENCE, Guyana (CMC) — Combined Campuses and Colleges, set 206 for victory, reached 115 for four in their second innings at the close on the third day of their day/night fifth round match in the WICB regional first-class championship against Jamaica yesterday at the Guyana National Stadium.
Scores: JAMAICA 202 (Donovan Pagon 80, Danza Hyatt 67; Ryan Austin 38-12-59-5, Kavesh Kantasingh 4-45) and 164 (Donovan Pagon 52, Tamar Lambert 23; Kavesh Kantasingh 4-53, Kevin McClean 2-28)
COMBINED CAMPUSES & COLLEGES 161 (Kjorn Ottley 44, Kyle Corbin 34, Kevin McClean 24; Odean Brown 27.4-9-54-8, Tamar Lambert 2-21) and 115 for four (Omar Phillips 35, Floyd Reifer 25 not out, Kjorn Ottley 25, Jamal Smith 24; Tamar Lambert 3-18)
Meanwhile, Barbados were still holding most, if not all of the aces, despite a fight-back from Guyana in their match.
The visitors are now highly favoured for their third win of the season, as Guyana, set 329 for victory, reached 59 for three in their second innings at the close on the third day of their fifth round match at the Albion Sports Complex.
At Bourda, Experienced all-rounder Omari Banks stroked a resilient half-century as the Leeward Islands endured a stout fightback from the Windward Islands on the third day of their match-up.
With a handsome first-innings lead of 121, the Leewards plunged to a flimsy second-innings score of 198 all out and the Windwards — set a challenging 320 to win — struggled to 128 for four at stumps.
Andre Fletcher (46) and night watchman Nelon Pascal (11) will resume ontoday’s final day with the Windwards needing a daunting 192 more runs to win with six wickets standing.
The Leewards — without a victory so far from three games — started the day on 22 without loss and in their haste to accumulate quick runs collapsed in 63 overs for their sub-200 total.
