Cornwall, Herbert take leads in play-offs
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Central Conference representatives Munro College lost both games to Western Conference opponents Cornwall College and Herbert Morrison at the Montego Bay Cricket Club as the national play-offs in the ISSA/KFC high school boys basketball started yesterday.
Cornwall came from behind to beat Munro, 50-45, in the Under-16 game, while despite playing with just seven players came up just short against Herbert Morrison, losing 47-51.
Herbert Morrison, who are unbeaten this season, led through the first two quarters, but led by Donomar Suckie — who had a game-high 18 points — Munro College outscored the Western Champions 26-22 in the second half, but all in vain.
Herbert Morrison, who scored the first six points in the game, led 16-12 after the first quarter and 29-21 at half-time.
Munro, who only had seven eligible players, chipped into the lead and trailed 40-35 entering the fourth quarter.

In the Under-16 game, Cornwall — who were forced to sit out a number of their starters for the entire first half as their ISSA ID cards had not arrived on time — outscored Munro 25-18 in the second half.
Munro led by two points after the first quarter 13-11 and at half-time 27-25, but back to full strength, Cornwall outscored Munro 19-10 in the third quarter to lead 44-37, and despite scoring just six points in the fourth, held off Munro who scored eight for the win.
