Conference champs begin basketball play-offs
The battle for all-island schoolboy basketball supremacy begins this afternoon with the ISSA/KFC Nationals Schools Play-offs.
After the completion of the Conference Championships last week, 12 schools will now compete for the National Junior and Senior titles.
In the Under-19 competition, Western champions Herbert Morrison HigH take on Munro College at Mobay Cricket Club, Belair host Calabar High at Church of the Nazarene, and Ocho Rios face Christiana High at Ocho Rios High school. All games start at 3:30 pm.
In the Under-16 league, defending champion Jamaica College entertain Knox College at the National Stadium Courts, Belair meet York Castle at Church of the Nazarene, and Cornwall College meet Munro at Mobay Cricket Club, staring 1:30 pm.
In the Under-19 league, champions Ardenne High, Christiana and Ocho Rios comprise Zone One. St George’s College, Munro and Herbert Morrison will contest Zone Two; Hydel, Edwin Allen and Old Harbour occupy Zone Three, while Calabar, Belair and Mannings will vie for honours in Zone Four.
In the Juniors, Zone one consists of Ardenne, Belair and York Castle; Zone Two sees St George’s, Munro and Cornwall College; Zone Three features Campion College, Edwin Allen and Old Harbour, while Zone Four comprises Jamaica College, Knox College and Herbert Morrison.
The top team from each group after one round will advance to the semi-finals.
