Rising star from Cornwall’s lair,
Excellence marked a very clear
Xenophobic disdain for mediocrity.
Nonpareil, yet Oxford, Mona with alacrity,
Elegantly groomed this sovereign
Trailblazer, an iconic cultural citizen;
Thrilling lectures, the Caribbean epitome
Living it, analytical with the chemistry
Even detractors do nod in admiration,
For just when we assume that sensation
Of invincibility, erudite, sanguine to a nation,
Ready or not, all precepts simply flashed …
Dancing until the eve the sevens clashed!
