No rest for Rex?
Dear Editor,
I think most of us went into shock on hearing that Rex Nettleford was in hospital. He has always been thought of as indestructible, full of life and creative energy. In the midst of cantankerous and confusing dialogue that often fills Jamaica, his was a voice of reason, utterly unbiased and always focused on what was best for Jamaica.
He and Michael had a very special friendship. They would talk for hours on the telephone and when two highly intellectual minds spar, inevitably peals of laughter would fill the house. Such was the case with Rex and Michael.
I would say “Rest in Peace, Rex”, except I feel that if Michael greets you in the beyond, there will be little rest.
