Mourning Prof
Dear Editor,
The Jamaica Progressive League Hartford Chapter Inc expresses deepest condolences to the family of Professor Rex Nettleford.
Professor Nettleford was a champion of Caribbean culture in particular, and black national identity in general.His brilliant intellect and artistic genius were used to enrich the lives of Jamaicans, the wider Caribbean and indeed the world.
As we mourn his loss, the greatest tribute we can pay to this Caribbean icon is to understand our history (as we celebrate black history here in the USA), appreciate the struggles of our forbears and value our cultural heritage as we seek to forge a prosperous and peaceful nation.
May his soul rest in peace and may his legacy live on.
