Treason against the state
Dear Editor,
The Kingston and St Andrew Action Forum Youth Organisation came under fire for agreeing with ACP McLean that we need to be wary of some of our law enforcement officers. The massive guns and ammunition find on Munster Road, along Mountain View Avenue, is testament to the fact that there are those who swear to protect and serve us who are facilitating the rapid death of our nation.
As young people, we are not prepared to enter a future that will be plagued by violence. Jamaica is under threat; as we are not merely living in a climate of violence perpetuated by known criminals, but we are also placed in a precarious position because we simply do not know who to trust. The underbelly of this country appears to be very nasty.
It is the view of the Kingston and St Andrew Action Forum that those found guilty must be made a perfect example of the Jamaican justice system working in favour of the Jamaican people. This is treason at the highest level; this guns and ammunition find that is apparently linked to law enforcement officers is treason against the state, to say the least. The Jamaican people are constantly being betrayed by those who are paid to protect us.
How dare he speak about youth delinquency when our young people are fed everything that is negative? How dare he speak about Jamaica being a developing nation when treacherous acts continue to be tolerated? There can be no development in a climate of violence. Woe unto this country if we do not ensure that the mechanisms are in place for the law to work for the masses.
This Government must make serious decisions and no stone must be left unturned. If we continue in our present state, there will be no Jamaica for our young people to inherit. We are calling on the Government and those who form the hierarchy of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to act swiftly in bringing those responsible to justice. Such a find cannot be viewed in isolation; someone knows something and if it is touted that no one knows anything, then the entire force needs to quit. We must, however, highlight the fact that there are still policemen of valour and dignity in Jamaica, and these men must not be overshadowed by the seditious behaviour of the minority. We hail the policemen who discovered this find and encourage others to follow suit, even if it means cleaning house. The closure of the armoury is a step in the right direction. The nation awaits the findings. Brace yourselves.
