Goodbye, Fr Burke
Dear Editor,
As a graduate of St George’s College I would like to express my deep sadness at the loss of Archbishop Lawrence Burke, presumed to be a Mr Nice Guy, who died tragically of cancer.
In May last year we saw him at our reunion and although he knew he was dying he was full of humour and optimism.
It was the hard work and generosity of people like Father Burke which made many of us who benefited from a sound education at St George’s go on to make our own contributions to Jamaica and elsewhere.
