Sunnyside atop Clarendon Major League
HAYES, Clarendon — Sunnyside blanked promoted Young Strikers 2-0 on Saturday at Wembly to remain top of the Clarendon Football Association/Captain’s Bakery Major League on goal difference.
They have now tallied seven points — the same as New Bowens — but lead based on goals scored.
Young Strikers, who only gained promotion to the Major League when Morgan’s Pass withdrew, are now sitting at the bottom of the 10-team league without a point, but with two games in hand.
Longwood (four), who were one of three teams tied atop the standings last week, slipped to fifth after they were beaten 0-2 by second-placed New Bowens on Sunday.
At Cobbla, Milk River, who have a game in hand, clipped Sanguinetti 1-0 to ease into third-place with six points. Sanguinetti (two) are sixth.
Gimme-me-bit (four) jumped two places to fourth courtesy of a 1-0 win over Rock River at Clarendon College on Saturday.
York Town, who remained in eighth position, continue to find victory hard to come by, after playing out a 0-0 draw in two weeks.
