Flexxing With – Tifa
2009 was a great year for dancehall artiste, Latifa ‘Tifa’ Brown. Her breakthrough, hit song — Spell It Out — had everybody singing and spelling along to the singjay’s catchy lyrics. Those who did not know her before, definitely acknowledged Tifa as one of the B-A-D-D-E-S-T female dancehall artiste of 2009.
Tifa plans to keep the momentum going in 2010. She plans to show a different side of her by doing a lot more singing. Her cover of R Kelly’s I Believe I Can Fly has garnered a lot of good responses from people so far.
The multi-talented young artiste (singer/deejay/songwriter with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology), also plans to even release some rhythms this year. The innovative Solita Rhythm is a fusion of spanish and dancehall beats and shows Tifa’s creativity.
When she is not working, Tifa hits the beach to clear her head, and when she’s looking for a thrill, she visits amusement parks.
Tifa told TEENage that life in the music business for her is like living in a soap opera.
“You have no privacy, and there is usually a lot of drama involved. You definitely have to be ‘thick-skinned’ in order to be successful in his business,” Tifa said.
“Life in itself is a soap opera too, but you have to be able to make the best of it,” she told us.
Despite all this, however, Tifa thanks God that she is doing what she loves and is getting paid to do it. This she doesn’t take for granted.
Tifa respects Ward 21 for recognising her talent and working with her so that she could mature to the point where she is at now. She has gained a wealth of knowledge from Ward 21.
“But sometimes it really hard to work with them. Their standard of work is very high,” she explained.
Fellow female dancehall artiste Lisa Hyper has made it her point of duty to lyrically assault other women in the industry. But according to Tifa, she does not care. Tifa Claims that to this day, she has not listened to Lisa’s controversial songs. She told TEENage “I just wish everybody the best. I know what I’m doing and it works for me.”
