Too much !
Dear Editor,
I am disgusted, shocked and further frustrated at the recent revelation that retired Justice Boyd Carey and other members of the Finsac Inquiry board are being paid a total of some US$4,800 per day.
At the end of 70 days, it translates into $15 million for Justice Carey and $7.5 million each for Mr Ross and Mr Bogle.
The Ministry of Finance negotiated the payment, but in light of the financial constraints facing the nation, I would like to know what these gentlemen feel and see when they look in the mirror each morning.
In particular, I find Justice Carey’s remark that he “has something to look forward to” nothing short of arrogant, patronising and disrespectful to the Jamaican taxpayers who must foot the bill for this inquiry.
Mr Ross and Mr Bogle are noticeably quiet. Is it embarrassment now that the cat has been let out of the bag?
Gentlemen, I wish you all the best. Like so many, it seems you have successfully joined the ranks of those who would contribute to the “mashing up” of this country.
What impact will this (and other) expenditure have on the coming budget? Will it mean that Mr Audley Shaw, whose foot is again perilously close to his mouth, have to eat his words and charge new taxes in April?
