No agreement between sugar workers, producers
WAGE negotiations between the Sugar Producers’ Federation of Jamaica (SPF) and trade unions representing workers failed to reach an agreement today at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, North Street Office.
“The parties had further discussions on the claims submitted by the unions but have not yet found a basis for agreement,” said a statement from the ministry today.
Negotiations will continue between the SPF and the unions – the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), the National Workers Union (NWU) and the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) – will continue at their next meeting on February 8.
