Don’t kill
Dear Editor,
I am heartened by the sentence handed down in the case of the two men convicted of murdering Richard and Julia Lyn in Mandeville three years ago.
I wish to congratulate Les Green and all those hardworking policemen who were so diligent in bringing Powell and Swaby to justice.
I know that I can speak on behalf of the Lyn family, their friends and all the good people of Mandeville when I say that we hope that this time we will see the death sentence carried out, because what we have here are two men who plotted and planned the death of two good, hard-working people who never troubled anyone.
It is past time for Jamaica to take back the country from these beasts. It is men like these who are preventing good people from opening new businesses and preventing thousands from coming to Jamaica – both Jamaicans abroad and foreigners.
Indeed, our tourism product would magnify tenfold if men like these did not exist to snuff out the life and soul of the country. This must now become the “tipping point” for the country. The message must simply be “Thou shall not kill”, otherwise you will pay with your life!
