Western Basketball to Help Haiti
THE Western Basketball Association will donate 100 per cent of admission proceeds for this Sunday’s HOOPS for HAITI basketball fund-raiser matches between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the Montego Bay Cricket Club court to help Haiti.
All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. The Red Cross is a a humanitarian organisation led by volunteers and provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies all over the globe.
With the recent earthquake that has devastated Haiti, its focus has changed to raising money and helping those in need in Haiti.
All in support are asked to enter by donating $150 at the gate. In addition, donations to help Haiti are encouraged and stations will be set up to donate to the cause.
“This is a time for the world to come together. We decided to do our part in contributing to those in need in Haiti. Every little bit helps” said WBA president Donalda Reid.
If fans cannot make it to the game, there are other ways they can contribute to the cause. Numerous organisations have joined forces and are doing all they can to support Haiti.
Fans can text the word “HAITI” to the number 444-4357 from a LIME phone, while Digicel users can text “HELP” to 162.
With the world pulling together to help the people of Haiti, the Western basketball Association is asking all players, fans, well-wishers to come out to this family-fun filled HOOPS FOR HAITI basketball fundraiser.
