JFF managers in T&T for football workshop
Managers of the Jamaica Football Federation Arlene Sinclair and Roy Simpson departed the island on Sunday for Trinidad and Tobago where they will attend a three-day workshop on the Transfer Matching System (TMS).
The workshop, which kicked off yesterday and ends tomorrow, will include training in the protection of minors as well as the international transfer of professional players.
At the 57th FIFA Congress in Zurich, Switzerland, the FIFA decided to introduce the TMS as part of the work of the FIFA Task Force.
Among the reasons behind the world governing body’s decision to introduce the TMS is to make sure that football authorities have more details available to them on each and every transfer, to increase the transparency of the individual transactions which will assist in improving the credibility and standing of the entire transfer system.
The TMS will also ensure that an actual transfer is taking place and not a fictitious process designed to launder money, but the most important reason is the safeguarding and protection of minors.
A decision was also taken by the FIFA that as of October 2010, the use of the TMS will be committed to the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of players. Then, the TMS will become a mandatory step for all international transfers of professional players, and any professional player registrations made without the use of TMS will be deemed invalid by FIFA.
