Headley Cup champs STETHS make it two-in-a-row
Headley Cup champion St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) made it two wins from as many starts in the 2010 ISSA/Grace rural area schoolboy limited overs cricket competition following an easy eight-wicket win over Godfrey Stewart High School in Santa Cruz on Friday.
The visitors, who loss the toss and sent to bat, made 104 off 23 overs in their innings. Opener Jason Thompson top-scored with 50 and Lamar Campbell 21 was the only other batsman to reached double figures.
Cassia Burton, who took two wickets in STETHS’ first game against Newell High, was the star from the bowling department, taking a hat-trick of wickets. He bowled Rushane Samuels for three and Keshiefe Daley and Oshane Samuels for (0), to finished with 4-11 from 3.3 overs. Horaine Linton, who took 3-13 in the first game, followed up with 3-17.
In reply it took the home team just over 45 minutes to erase Godfrey Stewart’s total. Opener Sheldon Samuels went for 12 and national youth captain Paul Palmer was caught behind for nine. However, Desmond Jones (33) and Brian Gayle (39) ably steered STETHS to victory.
