Cavalier stay clear in Claro Super League
CAVALIER scored two late goals against cellar-dwellars Meadhaven to stay two points clear of Rae Town in the Claro/KSAFA Super League at Constant Spring yesterday.
Rae Town clipped Mountain View 1-0 to keep pace with the leaders; Santos slammed Bull Bay 4-1; JDF stopped Real Mona 1-0; Duhaney Park turned back Constant Spring 3-1, while Barbican defeated Maverley/Hughenden 2-0.
Cavalier moved to 37 points after Donovan Alvaranga (73rd) and Phillip Riley (75th) scored two minutes apart to give the front-runners victory after they were held scoreless for more than an hour.
However, Rae Town made sure they stayed in close pursuit as Damian Jackson’s 32nd-minute strike gave them a 1-0 win over high-flying Mountain View away at Excelsior High. They are two points adrift.
Meanwhile, Santos moved back into third ahead of Mountain View after rallying to beat Bull Bay at Bull Pen. Rajay Tulloch, Fabian Nethersole, Jermaine Dixon and Shyan Evans scored for Santos after Sheldon Madden had given Bull Bay the lead after eight minutes.
At Up Park Camp, Oneil Spence netted the only goal after six minutes as the soliders to beat Real Mona.
Duhaney Park, through a brace from Earl Roberts (21 and 43rd) and another from Kadare Francis (49th) eased past Constant Spring for a rare win this season.
Claudious Blackburn got Constant Spring’s consolation.
At Barbican, the home team with goals from Desean Meeks and Shawn Lawes in the last three minutes of play saw off bottom-of-the-table Maverley.
In the Major League, Central Kingston stretched their lead by a point after beating Olympic Gardens 2-0, with strikes from Devon Johnson and Kemal Malcolm.
In other results, Audley Hanson and Rayon Brown each scored a brace as Rockfort beat Cooreville 4-1 to jump into second.
Police National had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Greenwich Town after David Stultz (45th) cancelled out Hubert Smith’s (32nd) strike.
Brown’s Town went down 0-4 to Molynes United, with Damian Edwards getting a double for the winners and Andrew Peddlar and Orando Barclay a goal each.
Liguanea and UWI played to a 1-1 draw, with Okeefe Green scoring for Liguanea and Jeffrey Brown for UWI, while the match between Swallowfield and Whitfield was not played due to an unprepared field.
Central Kingston (30 points) lead te competition by three points ahead of Rockfort, who lead Police by two points. UWI follow with 20, while Brown’s Town and Greenwich have 18 and Whitfield and Liguanea 17 points each.
