Harbour View to meet Waterhouse in round final
HARBOUR View secured their place in Sunday’s second-end-of-round final of the Digicel Premier League after beating Arnett Gardens 1-0 at the Harbour View mini-stadium yesterday.
Boys’ Town, who started yesterday’s last set of matches on 18 points, needed to beat Waterhouse to secure their spot. However, having lost 0-1 to the second round leaders at Drewsland on a Kevin Lamey 80th minute goal, that left the door open for Harbour View.
The ‘Stars of the East’, who started the day on 17 points, had earlier beaten strugglers Arnett Gardens 1-0 on a Kavin Bryan 44th minute strike at the Compound.
Bryan, who only recently returned from a stint in Norway, scored from an extremely tight ankle.
The wiley striker, who was played behind the Arnett Gardens defense by Andre Steele who chipped delicately, before his spliced shot rounded the Arnett Gardens keeper Julian McLeish. McLeish had produced three brilliant saves to stop Lovel Palmer in the 15th, John Ross-Edwards in the 23rd and Jermaine Hue in 34th minutes, prior to the Bryan’s wonder goal. Harbour View ended the game with 10-men after midfielder Jermaine Hue was red carded by referee Kevin Morrison in the 87th minute.
Substitute Rohan Reid came closest to scoring for Arnett Gardens in the 70th minute, but his rasping 25 yard shot was tipped over the cross bar by a diving Dwayne Miller in goal for Harbour View. The results mean, Arnett Gardens, who were suffering their fifth defeat of the round and 11th of the season, slipped to 10th position in the 12 team league on 21 points.
In another result, Village United and St Georges SC drew 0-0 at Elliston Wakeland Centre.
