Meadows, Tru Juice in South Central Super League clash
MAY PEN, Clarendon — There could be yet another leadership change in the South Central Confederation Super League this weekend when Meadows and Tru Juice meet today at Albion Oval in the top-of-the-table clash in one of four parish derbies set to highlight this weekend’s round of games.
Also today, Bodles host Naggo Head in another St Catherine derby. Tomorrow, Leeds play Tafari Lions in the St Elizabeth derby; Monymusk and Original Hazard will face off in the Clarendon derby; Newlands welcome Downs; while Hillstars entertain Woodhall. Matches start at 3:00 pm on both days.
The Tru Juice/Meadows encounter promises to be a mouth-watering affair as they are the only unbeaten teams in the competition and are only separated by two points. Tru Juice lead the standings with 16 points.
Meadows, who are in second place, lost the lead on the weekend, after being held to a 1-1 stalemate by Downs and will enter this fixture knowing that a win will send them back to the top.
Former champions Naggo Head (10), in third, will be aiming to keep pace on the leaders when they travel to Bodles. Bodles (sixth), who are just two points below Naggo Head, would want to rebound from last week’s shock defeat to Tafari Lions with a win and possibly climb into the top four.
Over at the St Elizabeth Technical High School tomorrow, fifth-placed Tafari Lions (nine) should get the better of last-placed Leeds, who are yet to collect a point. However, being a parish derby, pride will be at stake and it could go either way.
In the Clarendon derby at the Monymusk Sports Club, both Monymusk (eighth) and Original Hazard (ninth) are struggling to find from this season, and with only a point separating both, it is expected to be a close one.
Sixth-placed Newlands (nine), who had their unbeaten run of five games snapped by Woodhall last weekend, will have another tricky encounter when they welcome seventh-placed Downs who are only a point below.
It will be a relegation battle when tenth-placed Woodhall (six) meet eleventh-placed Hillstars (five) at Cobbla. Both teams have only mined one victory each this season and should be going all-out for a victory in their push for survival.
