Jamaicans all
Dear Editor,
In your recent article referring to the conviction of a police officer responsible for robbing returning residents, you referred to them as “foreigners”.
It would be wise not to regard Jamaicans living in another country as foreigners. They are all Jamaicans who happen to reside in another locale.
Such terms perpetuate the dis-connect which exists among many Jamaicans based in Jamaica and those elswhere. That in part contributes to the malady of envy and jealousy which needn’t be.
Media people like yourselves need to foster cohesion and encouragement among both groups so we all can contribute positively to the development of Jamaica.
