Red Stripe Bold Barcode thrilling
THE promoters of Red Stripe Bold Barcode, postponed due to the recent inclement weather, capitalised on the shortage of Boxing Day events for its target market and rolled out a hotbed of musical thrills.
Held on the lawns of the LIME Golf Academy, Red Stripe Bold Barcode which was promoted by Jamrock Entertainment Management saw patrons streaming in from as early as 11:00 pm.
By the time the clock struck at midnight, there was hardly any space left inside the venue. So thick was the crowd that space for dancing was limited until a few youngsters decided to utilise the space in front of the DJ booth to display their dancing prowess.
Nibbling on treats from the latest in R&B, dancehall, hip hop, rock and alternative and reggae beats, the crowd which comprised mostly teenagers, danced as if there was no tomorrow.
ZJ Johnny Kool from ZIP 103 FM worked up a blistering set riddled with delicacies from Mavado and Vybz Kartel among others. Skip to Ma Lu by Serani, Ding Dong and Biggy was a surefire hit with the patrons, as they could be seen scrambling to demonstrate the year’s biggest dance move.
DJ Shine earned one of the biggest forwards of the night as he rummaged through the catalogue of hits and unleashed an intoxicating brew of chart-topping treats that kept the musical madness flowing non-stop.
ZJ Chrome’s set was another crowd-pleaser, while Code Red made their presence felt.
Promoter Ibrahim Konteh was quite pleased with the turnout of patrons. “This is the biggest crowd that we have had. We have been through so many challenges, but despite that, with hard work comes success.”
Asked how the name Barcode came about, the promoter explained, “We thought of doing a party where patrons can come and experience hassle-free bar access, and one that is consistent with what we promise, which is ultra drink inclusive.”
The next staging of Barcode is set for next summer. Konteh revealed that there are plans to expand the Barcode brand to possibly include an old school party.
