Let Seaga run the JLP
Dear Editor,
I believe the Christmas tax package announced by the Bruce Golding-led administration has dealt the Jamaica Labour Party a fatal blow and its only chance of recovery is gong to require bold and dramatic change in the leadership of the party.
I know that this is going to cause many pro-Golding supporters great pain, but their only chance to stop the haemorrhaging is to give back the party to Edward Philip George Seaga, now regarded by most as the best political leader that this country has produced in the past 37 years.
The young have completely failed us. We see it every day even in our families and the wider society, so don’t tell me that Mass Eddie is too old for the job.
I heard him on the Breakfast Club recently discussing the general state of the economy and the man is as brilliant as I have ever heard him.
His analysis of the problems facing Jamaica gave one a feeling of complete faith in the country under his leadership, and although it is going to be a bitter pill for Bruce to swallow, I can’t see any other way out for the JLP at this time as many people are against him.
When a country is going through the horrendous problems that we are facing the leaders need the goodwill and help of the people more than ever. to treat them in this way is going to take a lot of explaining and I believe that the prime minister has squandered his political capital which was very little to begin with based on the razor-thin majority his party holds in Parliament.
