You knew the problem, Prime Minister, yet…
Dear Editor,
This is an open letter to Prime Minister Bruce Golding.
Dear Mr Prime Minister,
I do not envy you the job of being prime minister. It’s a difficult job, and it has been made infinitely more difficult by a tough recession. When you add all the years of PNP mismanagement (1972-1980) and (1989-2007) and the years of JLP mismanagement (1980 -1989) the scope of Jamaica’s problem can be readily appreciated.
On a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the highest level of difficulty (in fixing Jamaica’s economic problem), our problem is a 10. But you knew that, Mr Prime Minister, yet you abandoned cost-sharing.
You knew that, Mr Prime Minister, yet you further subsidised health care and the country can’t even afford the bags needed to collect blood.
You knew that, Mr Prime Minister, yet your Cabinet ministers spend taxpayers’ money as if it is sand on the sea shore.
You knew that, Mr Prime Minister, yet you clearly did not have an economic plan for the country.
Due to all the above and more, you and your finance minister have given this country the most burdensome and idiotic tax package that this country has ever seen.
Omar Davies had a plan, stifle the productive sector and then FINSAC them. Suffice to say it wasn’t a good plan, but it was a plan. You, on the other hand, Sir, have no plan.
Mr Patterson was the worst prime minister that this country had ever seen. Until now. Until you.
Okay, you want to succeed, Mr PM? Turn to Jesus Christ. Read His word and learn Godly wisdom.
Camica Jones
