TEENage treats Stony Hill SOS Children’s Village
Continuing the Christmas spirit of giving, TEENage Observer delivered kind collected at the Garfield Christmas Wonderland to SOS Children’s Village at Stony Hill.
Last Wednesday, the TEENage Observer team also got the chance to tour this unique facility. “The children in the village live in houses that they share with a ‘mother’ an aunts,” explained Paul Osbourne, Village Director for Kingston.
The SOS Village structure, first modelled in Austria, allows biolical siblings to stay together in the 12 houses now open in Stony Hill.
“With, at most nine, children, the house are run in a semi-autonymous fashion. They make their own budgets, make their own dinner, they eat as a family and most importantly, they belong to a family,” Osbourne explained further.
Along with the items collected at the three-day treat, TEENage Observer donated addition clothes shoes and toys to the Village.
