Veteran R&B singer Mary J Blige turns the clock back
There’s almost 20 years between them, but that hasn’t stopped Mary J Blige imitating fellow R&B singer Rihanna.
The 38-year-old star was pictured at a special guest appearance for the signing of her new album, Stronger With Each Tear, in New York City.
Sporting a remarkably similar hairstyle and shades to Rihanna’s, 21, Mary J Blige signed CDs and greeted fans at the Best Buy store. The veteran singer, who hit the big time during the ’90s with her debut album What’s The 411?, dressed in black from top to toe at the signing wearing a tight-fitting black top, jeans, a scarf and matching Ugg boots. Despite being an idol to many up-and-coming singers, she recently admitted to taking inspiration from some of the younger females on the R&B scene.
She said: “I always get inspired back from the Rihannas and the Beyonces. You just have to be open enough to learn from another generation…That’s being a smart person and that’s why I’m always able to be just right there — not doing what they do, but what I do.”
It has been alleged this week that the R&B diva left her husband with a bloody nose after he was said to have flirted with a waitress at a launch party for her new album.

Eminem to play first gig for five years in the UK
Eminem will return to the British stage for the first time in five-and-a-half years after promising to tone down his homophobic lyrics.
Organisers of the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park have persuaded the rapper to drop his gratuitously anti-gay songs to avoid any demonstrations.
Following Eminem’s pledge, they have agreed a deal with gay rights groups not to picket the event next summer.
The last time Eminem toured the country in 2001, gay rights group OutRage! protested outside his shows, saying his lyrics were homophobic.
