Cocktails With…
The fabulous Tina Myers-Matalon — Restaurants of Jamaica/Fiction Lounge director — might exude oodles of city-chic sass, but she’s every bit as concerned with making her mark on the local business sector as she is with nabbing a hot handbag or a pair of Louboutins. She’s sitting in the new alfresco space that is the newly launched Moët & Chandon Star Lounge at Fiction and laughing as she recalls her first New York sample sale — Diane Von Furstenberg — in-between sipping the über-haute bubbly.
What are you sipping?
Moët & Chandon Rosé.
What will people love about the Moët & Chandon Star Lounge?
It’s outdoors, it’s a new dimension for the Fiction brand and that, for me, will be the biggest pull factor.
Socialite or homebody?
Socialite; I can’t even lie on that one, but I do try to maintain a balance, especially when it comes to spending quality time with my children and my mum.
When you’re not working, where’s the one place we can find you?
Anything involving the sea, whether it’s the beach, boating or Portie. I also enjoying just chilling at Fiction.
Flats or stilettos?
Both.
LBD or jeans?
LBD for sure… always.
What’s your ‘right-now’ accessory?
My eternity band, it’s not a wedding ring but rather a five-year anniversary band… it goes with everything.
What’s your style?
Classic contemporary.
Who does your hair?
Christopher ‘Scott’ Walker out of Miami.
Who does your nails?
Manor Collections in Manor Park.
Who inspires you?
All young entrepreneurs who are driven and determined… my family and their accomplishments.
What’s your idea of the perfect man?
My gorgeous husband.
What’s on your iPod?
Shaggy’s Street Bullies, Black Eyed Peas and John Legend, who sang to me for my birthday.
What projects are you working on?
Development in business, my core brands Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and Pizza Hut. Growing and maintaining the Fiction brand and possibly looking to expand regionally. We are, too, focusing on adjusting ourselves for this new financial environment in which we operate.
What’s your idea of happiness?
Fulfilment in whatever I define as my personal happiness.
What’s your wish for 2010?
For fear of sounding like a beauty queen, I wish that Jamaica would, as a country, maximise its potential. On a personal level, I wish for growth and development in everything I do.
And 10 years from now?
Happiness and good health, I don’t take health for granted. Sucessful growth and development within the KLA Group and Restaurants of Jamaica brands.
